Solo vocal and conducting opportunities at the Ogontz Choral Workshop
Voice lessons and masterclasses
Ogontz Choral Workshop participants are encouraged to bring in their own solo vocal pieces to work on with our outstanding vocal instructors through private voice lessons and voice masterclasses offered throughout the week. Please note that space is limited, and spots often fill up quickly!
Participants who are working on their own solo vocal piece will have the opportunity to perform their piece at an informal participant concert at the end of the week with our wonderful collaborative pianists.
Conducting workshops
Participants also have the opportunity to conduct an excerpt of their choosing from the week’s repertoire and receive feedback from Maestro David Hill. Again, space is limited, and spots often fill up quickly!
Solo opportunities in the Brahms Requiem
Although there is no formal performance during the Ogontz Choral Workshop, we would like to open the opportunity for interested participants to take on the various solo passages in the Brahms Requiem during rehearsals and for the final run-through at the end of the week. There are three movements containing solo passages in this piece. Interested participants should submit an audition video with piano accompaniment containing one of the following excerpts…
For the third movement baritone solo — please record the beginning through “…und mein Leben is wie nichts vor dir.”
For the fifth movement soprano solo — please record the beginning through “…Niemand von euch nehmen.”
For the sixth movement baritone solo — please record the solo entrance through “…zu der Zeit der letzten Posaune.”
Please send your audition video to peterkelmelis@ogontzwhitemountains.com by May 1st for consideration.
