Choral Workshop with David Hill
Sunday, July 13th – Saturday, July 19th, 2025
The Ogontz Choral Workshop offers extraordinary opportunities for singers, church musicians, and choral conductors to explore repertoire with one of the world’s leading choral directors.
Registration is open to anyone — no auditions are required.
Past participants have come from across North America and beyond and have included singers and musicians of all backgrounds.
Unlike many summer choral workshops, which focus on a culminating public performance, the Ogontz Choral Workshop is an opportunity to become immersed in several masterpieces without the pressure of preparing to perform.
The Ogontz Choral Workshop 2025 cost of attendance is:
Standard singing participant — $1,500
First-time singing participant — $1,300
Non-singing companion — $1,300
Educators - $1,300
First time next generation singing participant (born 1985 or later) — $1,200
The cost of attendance includes tuition, music rental, lodging and meals.
Workshop scholarships and financial assistance are available through the Ogontz Arts Foundation.

The Choral Camp is a great way to spend time with other singers and a master maestro in a beautiful setting where you can actually see the stars at night. […] Ogontz was the location for many of the most wonderful experiences of my life.

Attending the Ogontz Choral Symposium is truly a magical experience. The setting is soothing and uplifting to the spirit, the wonderful company of other singers from diverse backgrounds broadens our learning experience and the music…ah, the music… fills heart and soul. And our faculty are outstanding!

This is a wonderful choral experience. The music is well chosen. The setting is beautiful. And it is fun! The group readily accepts singers at all levels. I have learned much from the years I have attended through choral week at Ogontz and I recommend it to others.

First blessing of many is the setting is idyllic with hills, lake, plenty of green, great food and camaraderie. I have to say all or nearly all the singers are very experienced and most read at sight very well, which is the second blessing. The literature is outstanding … – never a dull moment. David Hill of England plays, directs, instructs, comments and generally entertains and enlightens the some 70+ singers who come from a wide area centered in New England but extending far beyond. We had youngsters, middle-aged, and the most numerous age group were like me, senior citizens. The choir is well-balanced and sounds terrific.

Life at Ogontz
Ogontz Camp is a magnificent 350+ acre facility in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The camp overlooks Lake Ogontz, a small, semi-private lake with a spectacular view of the mountains beyond.
Living space at Ogontz varies from several modest indoor cabins (with indoor plumbing and enclosed bedrooms), to about 45 Adirondack style cabins (with three open sides, equipped with storm flaps, tables, personal cubbies, beds, chairs, electricity), all close to shower and toilet facilities.
While cabins can accommodate one to four people, they rarely have more than two people, and solo cabins are usually possible. In the late spring, registrants will be asked to indicate housing preferences.
The Ogontz Kitchen and Bakery
Participants are treated to delicious meals three times a day.
The food at Ogontz is prepared in the camp’s large kitchen by the camp’s legendary chefs. The Ogontz onsite bakery prepares desserts and other tasty items, such as the famous Ogontz chocolate chip cookies and fresh loaves of bread.

Most days include three sessions of singing with David Hill, learning and polishing the week’s repertoire. Paula Rockwell, our resident voice clinician, leads vocal instruction and warm-up sessions in the morning and masterclasses in the afternoon. One evening later in the week she treats us to an extraordinary voice recital, followed by a fabulous dessert reception. There is also ample time for participants to relax, socialize and enjoy the beautiful lake!

A masterclass is a public voice lesson. It is open to singers of all levels. Volunteers sign up for an afternoon time slot (15-20 min) and come to the session prepared to sing in front of other campers. Voice clinician Paula Rockwell gives very constructive feedback on ways to improve. Members of the group are invited to respond as well. It is a very positive and supportive environment. Singers are encouraged to bring music of their choosing with a copy for an accompanist if needed; accompanists will be available. A sign-up sheet will be available ahead of the Workshop.
